So back in 2011 in a little rally know as North Nevada, we had a serious "off". Without going into detail a series of problems lead to a rollover within 2 minuted of starting the rally. That being said, repairs being made High Desert Trails Rally was the comeback from that incident.

Almost a full year of repairs, banging sheetmetal, and our heads got us back to where we started off in this car. High Desert Trails Rally 2011 was the debut of our WRX as a stage rally car, supposed to be a shakedown rally for us, ended with a first in class win, 2 minutes better than the previous years class champion.

With great anxiety of both myself and returning CoDriver Travis Bos, we set the goal to just finish, ease back into it and see how it felt again. I must add, Travis is returning after breaking 2 of his ribs, so getting back in the car with me says a lot to me, and I hope to keep him there as this proved to be his best performance navigating.

The first 2 stages felt very wrong and the car was all over the place. Come to find out between SS2 & SS3 we just had way too much air in the tires. By SS4 a comfort set in that was very familiar and think by the end of SS3 we had both but the previos "Incident" behind us. By SS4 we were hitting triple digits in speed, and set a personal high stage speed of just under 110mph.

All was going well and our times were improving, even after a near collision with cattle. Unfortunately mid SS6 a hose between the turbo and Intercooler blew a hole in it, ending our day.

I can't say I was upset or even dissapointed, these are things you expect to happen in a rally. I would have loved to finish, I think we might have been in contention for at least third in class, but I was happy with our return. Happy with the cars performance, up to that point, and have only a simple part to replace to get us back going again.
